Big gender gap on British TV

A study commissioned by Channel 4 to mark International Women’s Day has found that there is a significant gender gap on television with men outnumbering women two-to-one, reports The Guardian. Despite the British population consisting of more females, this isn’t reflected in the faces on television

The findings also show that the females who do appear on screen are either in soaps or discussing softer news topics, such as health, culture or cookery. The research shows that women are under represented in light entertainment, comedy, drama, factual programming and news.
